Program initiatives

To create a safe space for anyone to learn and thrive through ballet.

My mission is to make the world of ballet more accessible to all, and to encourage more to find joy in moving their bodies through the art of ballet.

Meet your coach!

My name is Stephanie Maiorano, I’m a principal dancer and international ballet coach!

Performing as a principal dancer with the San Diego Ballet is thrilling enough alone, but it wasn’t until I began coaching dancers of all ages that I found a new passion though sharing the importance of tapping into your inner dancer.

In 2020 when the world shut down I needed a way to stay in shape so I would be ready to jump back onstage once theaters opened up again. I turned to Zoom ballet lessons. They helped me not only keep in performance shape, but allowed me to maintain all the mental and emotional benefits I would get through moving to music in a studio.

Once I saw it was possible to continue to learn and grow through this new avenue, I discovered an entire community of dancers who like me thrived with online lessons! 4 years later I have taught over 100 students through the online platform from all over the world of all ages and levels.

About my classes!

My lessons are 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or a full hour. After our free consultation I can determine the lesson plan that is right for your specific goals! My lessons range from stretch classes, pointe classes, beginning to advance barre work, center work, and more. Every dancer is different and it’s important that you have the class that is right for you!

Why Is Ballet

Important?

Everyone was born to dance, and with ballet we have a method to put that into practice.

Ballet is beautiful but it also has amazing health, spiritual, psychological and emotional benefits!

Like most sports, dancing improves heart and lung function, muscular strength, endurance, motor fitness, and weight management. Dancing is also known to increase bone strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, and balance.

Studies show that dancing along to music even for five minutes can boost happiness and improve creative-thinking patterns.

Ballet provides the perfect structure for us to fully embody music and to reach our full potential physically and emotionally.

Our Partners

Adults

Ballet for adults is the most exciting for me to teach, because it spans such a wide range of dancers. From first time lesson takers, to retired professional dancers, dancing ballet as an adult is such a wonderful way to improve our minds, bodies and souls. Personally I find ballet is far more beneficial than going to the gym for a work out and certainly more fun!

Why are private ballet lessons so beneficial to adults?

  • Individualized Feedback: In private lessons, I can provide immediate and detailed feedback on posture, alignment, movement quality, and technique, helping adults refine their skills more effectively.
  • Confidence Building: Private lessons offer a supportive environment where adults can feel more comfortable asking questions, experimenting with movement, and expressing themselves creatively, which can help build confidence both in and outside of the dance lesson.
  • Flexibility and Convenience: Adults with busy schedules may find private lessons more convenient than group classes since they can often be scheduled at times that suit their own availability.
  • Injury Prevention: Personalized instruction allows me to address any physical limitations or areas of weakness, helping to prevent injuries and promote safe and effective movement practices.
  • Stress Relief and Mental Well-being: Ballet can serve as a form of stress relief and mental relaxation for adults, providing a creative outlet and a break from the demands of daily life.

Pre-Teen / Pre-Proffesional

I have the unique ability as a professional ballet dancer to really help this group in an important time in their journey. Breaking into the ballet world professionally is tough, but not impossible! I can help give my first hand experience on how to make these dreams become a reality.

In my journey to becoming a professional, what really helped propel me forward in technique and artistry were my one on one weekly private lessons. Here are some reasons why its so important for young dancers to have personal private lessons aside from group classes:

  • Personalized attention: In a private setting, I can focus solely on the student tailoring the lesson to their specific needs, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  • Faster progress: With individualized instruction, students can progress at their own pace, receiving immediate feedback and corrections, which can accelerate their development as dancers.
  • Targeted skill development: Private lessons allow for targeted work on specific techniques, such as turns, jumps, or flexibility, addressing areas of weakness and helping the student to refine their skills more effectively.
  • Confidence building: Working one-on-one with an instructor can boost a student’s confidence, as they receive encouragement, support, and personalized guidance to overcome challenges and achieve their dance goals.
  • Injury prevention: Private lessons can focus on proper technique and alignment, reducing the risk of injury by ensuring the student learns correct movement patterns and practices safely.
  • Flexibility in scheduling: Private lessons often offer more flexibility in scheduling compared to group classes, allowing students to fit their dance training around other commitments such as school or extracurricular activities.

Overall, private ballet lessons can provide aspiring young dancers with a focused, personalized learning experience that enhances their technical proficiency, artistic expression, and confidence as dancers.

Little Ballerinas (Ages 4-8)

Private ballet lessons can be highly beneficial for little dancers, offering a range of advantages tailored to their developmental needs. It’s a fun opportunity to explore and play in a structured atmosphere! Here are a few benefits for little ones to have personalized private ballet lessons:

  • Individualized attention: Private lessons provide the opportunity for me to focus solely on the child, catering to their unique learning style, abilities, and interests. This personalized attention can accelerate their progress and understanding of ballet technique.
  • Enhanced focus and engagement: With undivided attention from me, children may find it easier to concentrate and stay engaged throughout the lesson, leading to more effective learning and skill development.
  • Confidence building: Private lessons can help build a child’s confidence as they receive personalized encouragement, positive reinforcement, and constructive feedback. This can help shy or hesitant children overcome their fears and develop a stronger sense of self-assurance.
  • Correct technique and alignment: Individual instruction allows for meticulous attention to detail in the child’s technique, ensuring they learn proper alignment, posture, and movement from the start. This focus on correct form can help prevent injuries and establish good habits early on.
  • Tailored progression: Private lessons enables me to tailor the curriculum and pace of learning to the child’s individual needs and abilities. This personalized approach ensures that children are neither overwhelmed nor held back, allowing for optimal progression.
  • Development of musicality and expression: With my undivided attention, children can explore musicality, expression, and artistry in greater depth. Private lessons offer opportunities for creative exploration and interpretation, fostering a deeper connection to the music and the emotional aspects of dance.
  • Flexibility and convenience: Private lessons often offer more flexibility in scheduling, making it easier for parents to fit dance training into their child’s busy schedule.

Additionally, private lessons can be conducted at the child’s own pace and comfort level, ensuring a positive and enjoyable learning experience.

Overall, private ballet lessons can provide young children with a nurturing and focused environment in which to explore their passion for dance, develop essential skills, and build confidence in themselves as dancers.
